Patrick Smith Recognized by U.S. Department of Energy
REM Risk Consultants’ Patrick Smith was selected by the Department of Energy (DOE) as a 2020 Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) Distinguished Alumni Award recipient. This honor is chosen by the DOE to recognize IAC alumni for their outstanding accomplishments in promoting the practices, principles and procedures of energy engineering in a professional capacity after their IAC experience.
The IAC program is funded by DOE, and includes centers at 28 universities across the U.S. Its mission is to provide small- and medium-sized manufacturers with no-cost energy assessments. These assessments assist client companies with reducing energy usage and waste while at the same time increasing productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.
Patrick is an Alumni of the Oklahoma State University IAC, which opened in 1982 and was recently recognized as the only IAC in the country to have completed 1,000 assessments. The OSU IAC has contributed over $300 million in energy cost saving implementations since its inception. During Patrick’s time with the IAC program, he performed 66 energy assessments and helped write over 120 energy assessment reports. Patrick’s experience in the IAC program laid the foundation for his current position as the Director of Sustainability Services at REM.
