Rixio Medina Appointed Chair of ASSP Technical and Professional Recognition Committee

REM’s Rixio E. Medina was recently appointed the 2023-2024 Chair of American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) Technical and Professional Recognition Committee (TRPC). He has served in the TPRC since 2021.

The TRPC advances the occupational safety and health professionals through the recognition of model OSH professionals. Some of the key responsibilities of the TRPC are to oversee the administration of ASSP Honor of Fellow (FASSP) and the Society Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) awards.

Rixio is a founding member of REM Risk Consultants and a former oil and gas industry executive. He has a long history of service to ASSP, including positions on the Board of Directors and society president, vice president of the Council on Professional Affairs, and many other ASSP committees, including Standards Development, Bylaws, Global, Diversity and Government Affairs. He has served as an ASSP ambassador for Latin America and trustee for the ASSP Foundation, where he sponsors a scholarship for Hispanics in safety. Rixio has also served as president of the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) and on the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board after being appointed by President George W. Bush in 2003.
