REM Presents Roadmap for Climate Security
REM Risk Consultant’s Dr. Michael Larrañaga and Dr. John Comiskey, of Monmouth University, have published the journal article titled “Climate Security: A Pre-Mortem Approach to a Sustainable Global Future”. The article introduces the concept of Climate Security, which presents a roadmap for achieving climate security for the United States and the World: “To achieve climate security, we must identify, acquire, and sustain the capabilities required across the whole-of-community to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from climate change risks.”
Dr.’s Larrañaga and Comiskey discuss how climate security is critical to the security of the nation and for the sustainability of future generations and recommends the formal inclusion of climate security at the highest levels of the national policy agenda. The article was published in the prestigious Homeland Security Affairs Journal (HSAJ), the pre-eminent scholarly journal in the field of homeland security and emergency management. The journal is the official journal of the Center for Homeland Defense and Security, which is housed within the Department of National Security Affairs at the United States Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California and is funded by the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency.
