Benjamin Craig Appointed as Principal to the NFPA 660 Technical Committee for Wood and Cellulosic Materials
REM Risk Consultants’ Benjamin Craig has been appointed as a Principal to the Committee for Wood and Cellulosic Materials, formerly responsible for NFPA 664 Standard for the Prevention of Fires and Explosions in Wood Processing and Woodworking Facilities, now the new NFPA 660 Standard for Combustible Dusts with a first edition in Fall of 2024.
Combustible dust, frequently found in multiple industries, consists of any combustible particulates that presents a fire or deflagration hazard when suspended in air (or some other oxidizing medium), over a range of concentrations, regardless of particle size or shape. Incidents involving combustible dust are common enough that they are a focus of OSHA as part of its Combustible Dust National Emphasis Program and changes to the 2021 International Building Code (IBC) and International Fire Code (IFC) require dust hazard analyses (DHA) to be performed retroactively on processes. REM frequently assists clients in reducing their combustible dust risks through testing, process reviews, and performing DHAs.
REM Risk Consultants assists clients with all aspects of Business Continuity and Resiliency – from process safety and fire protection solutions to occupational health and organizational risk management. Please contact us if we can assist you in improving your operations.
