REM to Assist with Offshore Deepwater Port HazID Process
REM has been selected to assist with a series of HazID’s related to applications for offshore deepwater ports in the Gulf of Mexico. These ports will be used to export crude oil to VLCC vessels.
Crude oil exports were banned from 1977-2015, but have increased dramatically since 2015 and are projected to continue to grow as U.S. oil production increases. This will likely create demand for more deepwater ports in the U.S. capable of handling VLCC’s. These ports create a unique set of risks that must be carefully assessed to mitigate potential hazards.
