Michael Larrañaga Named Founding Director of School Shooting Research Foundation
Michael Larrañaga was recently named a Founding Director of the School Shooting Research Foundation. “I am honored to be a Founding Director and Treasurer of the School Shooting Research Foundation, an organization founded by my friend and Naval Postgraduate School colleague David Reidman” Larrañaga says.
The School Shooting Research Foundation aims to provide clarity to the school shooting issue writ large by providing quality data on all school shootings for improved decision-making, analysis, and policy. David has already been interviewed or had his work cited by every major news outlet, including Time, Rolling Stone, Vox, the Wall Street Journal, Vice, NPR, Yahoo News, Newsweek, New York Daily News, Washington Post, The New York Times and others.
The Foundation’s database is the most comprehensive and detailed of its kind. It aims to document all instances of gunfire at K-12 schools since 1970 and has recorded a total of more than 1,300 cases. The database does not include shootings on college campuses. The full database can be viewed here: https://www.chds.us/ssdb/dataset/
